As I doing my usual ‘window shopping’ stint down Oxford Street, I stumbled in front of the Urban Outfitters window and found them very intriguing. Instead of mannequins and the usual store promotion, the window took on a new way of promoting its product along with up and coming talent.
Lukas Wierzbowski
Polish photographer Lukasz Wierzbowski explores the relationship between model
and surroundings in order to bring to life our ‘Prints Collection’. In what can only
be described as a photographic game of hide-and-seek, he creates a balance and
sense of equality between the two that allows the clothes to take centre stage-Urban Outfitters
Lukas tells U.O in his interview that his shoots are often unplanned and shoots in locations that are both familiar and unfamiliar to him ensuring the spontaneity transfers in his work. His motto “less is more” also translates into his work.
Lukas’ shoot of U.O’s S/S prints collection is beautifully placed in harmonious surroundings, almost as if each item belongs in the environment. The nontraditional model poses are representative of freedom and fun adding to the harmony and free spirit of the imagery. The models rarely show their faces, could this be so that the clothes speak for themselves and Urban Outfitters remains the true identity of the work?
